Brazilian superstar Neymar has completed a permanent switch to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal from PSG for around £90m on a two-year deal.
Neymar had been at PSG since 2017, having left Barcelona to join them for a world record fee of around £180m. The 31-year-old forward saw his time in Paris largely blighted by injuries, but he managed to leave his imprint on the club with several dazzling performances.
Al-Hilal have tried to make a marquee signing all summer, targeting Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe with ambitious offers before an opportunity arose to sign Neymar, who was unsettled at the French capital after New manager Luis Enrique indicated that he did not intend for him to remain at the club beyond this summer. The former Barcelona star was left out of the squad for their league opener against FC Lorient.
Neymar will earn a reported £255m over the course of his stay in Saudi, with the possibility of earning a further £85m in endorsements. The Brazilian International becomes the most expensive signing by a Saudi club and will join a star-studded Al-Hilal team that has Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Malcolm, and several other star players.
The Brazilian forward scored 118 goals and provided 77 assists in 173 appearances for the French giants, winning 14 major honours. The French side have already signed Ousmane Dembele to potentially replace the Brazilian superstar.
