Cooper Flagg sets NBA record with 42 Points

Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg made NBA history on Monday night, December 15 by scoring a career high 42 points and becoming the youngest player ever to record a 40-point game at 18 years old.

Flagg finished with 42 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in a 140–133 overtime loss to the Utah Jazz. He shot 13-of-27 from the field and 15-of-20 from the free-throw line, scoring 24 points in the first half.

With the performance, Flagg passed LeBron James’ previous record of 37 points for the most scored by an 18-year-old in NBA history. He also became just the fourth rookie in Dallas Mavericks history to score 40 or more points in a game.

Over his last seven games, Flagg is averaging 25.7 points per game on 54.5% shooting, putting him third all-time in points scored before turning 19, behind only LeBron James and Kobe Bryant.
