Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates 50th goal In 2023
Portuguese superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his 50th goal of the year 2023 as Al Nassr defeated Al Shabab 5-2 in the Saudi Arabia Kings Cup.
The match was played on Monday, December 11, 2023 and saw Al Nassr edge Al Shabab to reach another Kings Cup semi-final where Odion Ighalo‘s Al Wedha SC awaits.
Ronaldo scored his 50th goal of the year 2023 In the 74th minute of the match as Al Nassr criused.
The 38-year-old was played through after a neat one-two with compatriot Otavio, to score with a low finish from 10 yards out.
That goal put Al Nassr 4-1 thanks to earlier strikes by Seko Fofana, Sadio Mane, and Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
The five-time Ballon D’or winner was taken off in the 82nd minute.
After the match, Ronaldo took to Instagram to celebrate his 50th goal of the year plus a target for “more”.
“Great victory and I’m thrilled to announce my 50th goal in 2023, all thanks to the unwavering support of my teammates, fans, and my family! There’s still room for a few more this year.” Ronaldo wrote on his Intagram handle.
A breakdown of Ronaldo’s goals in 2023 shows that he has scored 40 times for Al Nassr and 10 for Portugal.
Interestingly, the Portuguese legend has now scored 50 or more goals in eight calendar years, a feat that has only been eclipsed by his long-time rival Lionel Messi who has done so nine times in his career.
He will have opportunity to add to his tally when Al Nassr faces Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq on Friday, December 22 in the Saudi Pro League.
