Cyriel Dessers fails to score as Rangers bow to Manchester United
Cyriel Dessers failed to score as Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers bowed to a 2-0 pre-season friendly loss to Manchester United on Saturday.
Rangers FC faced their second loss in a row during their preseason, falling to Manchester United at Murrayfield Stadium.
Super Eagles star Cyriel Dessers started the game for Philippe Clement’s team but did not score during his 76 minutes on the field, disappointing the Scottish fans.
This is the fourth consecutive game where Dessers, the former US Cremonese striker, has not scored for Rangers since his goal in their 5-2 win against Dundee FC.
During the game, Ivory Coast forward Amad Diallo scored the first goal, taking advantage of a smart pass from Mason Mount to send the ball into the bottom left corner of Jack Butland’s goal.
In the 70th minute, Polish talent Maximiliano Oyedele, whose father is Nigerian, made an excellent pass to Joe Hugill, who then powered a strong shot past Butland for 2-0.
Another standout was Habeeb Ogunneye, also of Nigerian descent, who impressed with his performance during his 45 minutes on the field for Erik Ten Hag’s team.
Cyriel Dessers will be looking to end his goal drought as Rangers continue their preseason tour, with a match against Birmingham City coming up next.
