Cyriel Dessers’ performance in Rangers win over Motherwell attracts praise

Former Celtic Women midfielder Leanne Crichton has commended Cyriel Dessers for his standout performance in Rangers’ 2-1 victory against Motherwell.

Dessers, who has been in fine form this season, scored both goals in his last two games. His impressive start to the season includes a crucial stoppage-time goal in Rangers’ UEFA Champions League match against Dynamo Kyiv four days ago.

In the Rangers’ win over Motherwell, Dessers scored the opening goal in less than thirteen minutes, connecting with a Mohamed Diomande cross and finishing past Motherwell goalkeeper Aston Oxborough.

Despite Robin Propper’s 17th-minute own goal equalizing for Motherwell, Vaclav Cerny’s stunning strike seven minutes later secured the victory for Rangers.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, Crichton said, “Rangers were really good in the first half, with many standout performances, including Vaclav Cerny. Cyriel Dessers was a handful, but it all fizzled out in the second half.”

Leon Balogun and Moses Ebiye came on as second-half substitutes to help secure the win.
