Dakkada FC begin promotion chase with home-draw Vs 1472 FC In Uyo

Dakkada FC began their chase for promotion with a 2-2 home-draw vs 1472 FC on matchday one of the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League season. SportsRation reports.

Recall that Dakkada FC lost its top-flight status at the end of the 2022/2023 season and so will play in the second tier this season.

Under the tutelage of Coach Emmanuel King, Dakkada FC welcomed newly founded 1472 FC of Lagos to the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The visitors, 1472 FC, took the lead through striker Alade Solomon who broke free on goal before stretching to chips over the on-rushing Dakkada FC goalkeeper, Robert Cole in the 24th minute.

That goal sparked sustained pressure from the Chosen Ones who got due reward in the 32nd minute when Lucky Tom tapped home after the visiting goalkeeper spilled a shot his way.

There were no further clear-cut chances until the halfway point of the game and so the teams returned to the changing rooms level 1-1.

On resumption for the second half, Dakkada FC took the lead three minutes In when veteran skipper, Aniekan Ekpe’s cross was headed home by new-signing, Clever Ime.

With scores at 2-1 , it was end to end action with each team cancelling out each others attempt until the visitors struck the equalizer in the 85th minute.

Dakkada FC however hard a glorious chance to win the game game but youngster Donald Godwin missed a penalty kick .

It finished Dakkada FC 2-2 1472 FC, a point for the new-boys while the hosts – former champions of the second tier begin their chase for promotion with a home-draw.

The 2023/2024 Nigeria National League season kicked off last weekend, with the official opening game between Nasarawa United FC Vs Zamfara United FC. That match ended 1-0 in favour of the home team at the Lafia City Stadium.

At the end of the season, the four top teams from each conference will gain automatic promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) .
