Daniel Daga names Yves Bissouma as his role model in first Interview as Molde player

Daniel Daga, the Nigerian midfielder recently signed by Norwegian club Molde FK, has opened up about his football inspirations and aspirations in his first interview with the club. Daga, who made the move from FC One Rocket in Nigeria, revealed that his playing style is heavily influenced by two top midfielders: Yves Bissouma of Tottenham Hotspur and N’Golo Kanté.

“I play like Bissouma of Tottenham,” Daga said, describing his style of play. “I tackle like him. I used to like Kanté because of how I cover the pitch.” The 18-year-old, who has already gained top-flight experience from his time on loan at Enyimba and as part of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles squad, explained that he’s always been focused on football.

When asked about his signature celebration, Daga shared that he has a trademark lion celebration he hopes to use when he scores for Molde FK. “I’ll be doing the lion celebration,” he said with excitement.

Molde FK’s Chief Executive Officer, Øystein Neerland, expressed his delight at the arrival of the young talent. “We are very happy to bring in an exciting and talented player from Nigeria,” Neerland said. “Daniel already has experience from the top division in Nigeria, and he is considered a great talent. We look forward to seeing his development here and helping him take new steps in his career.”

Daga’s focus is now fully on his journey with Molde, and he is expected to feature in the club’s upcoming friendly against Træff at the Aker Stadion on Tuesday. With big ambitions for his career, the young midfielder is eager to prove himself on the European stage.
