Day ready for Tour Championship

Jason Day insists his back problem is a “non-issue” as he prepares to play the PGA Tour Championship in East Lake this week.

The world number one was unable to complete the final round of the BMW Championship earlier this month due to the issue and managed just eight holes on the Sunday before leaving the course.

Speculation as to his participation at the end-of-season event in Atlanta has dominated the build-up to the tournament, but he looks set to start.

The Australian has been drawn alongside compatriot Adam Scott for the opening round on Thursday as he looks to claim the FedEx Cup and Day insists he is fully fit.

“I feel good,” he is quoted as saying by The Golf Channel.

“I was practising the last two days just trying to ease my way back into it.

“The back is a non-issue right now.”
