Deadlock in F1 qualifying talks
Formula One chiefs have hit deadlock in talks over a qualifying format change and discussions are set to continue next Thursday.
A new elimination-style qualifying system has been much maligned since it was introduced for the first time at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix last month.
Drivers have expressed their displeasure over the change of rules, but there was no change for the session in Bahrain on Saturday.
Stakeholders met ahead of the second race of the season at the Sakhir circuit in the desert, but Mercedes’ head of motorsport Toto Wolff revealed they were unable to agree a way forward.
“No decision has been made, we haven’t reached the conclusions on how we want to continue yet,” he said.
Wolff added that reverting to last year’s method is “not on the table”
