Deborah Abiodun scores brace in comfortable Pittsburgh Panthers win

Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun bagged a brace in Pittsburg Panthers comfortable 6-1 win over Duquesne Dukes on Friday, September 1, 2023.

The match was played at the Ambrose Urbanic Field and saw Deborah Abiodun put in another impressive performance in the colours of Pittsburg Panthers.

Randy Waldrum rewarded the Nigerian teenager with another start after scoring her first goal for Pittsburg Panthers in their last game.

Amanda West scored two goals to gift Pittsburg Panthers a 2-1 lead at the break vs Duquesne Dukes on Friday morning (Nigerian time).

Deborah Abiodun scored to extend her sides lead following a Sarah Schupanksy corner-kick spill.

Samiah Phiri then scored to give Pittsburg Panthers a 4-1 lead before Abiodun added a fifth from a Keera Melenhors assist.

Anna Bout then scored late-on to complete a 6-1 rout of Duquesne Dukes, a sign of revival from Randy Waldrum tutored ladies who have scored 11-goals in the last two matches.

19-year Super Falcons of Nigeria midfielder Deborah Abiodun has now scored three goals for her American Women’s College team and will look forward to more when Pittsburgh Panthers take on Bowling Green at the Ambrose Urbanic Field on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

Abiodun was a member of Randy Waldrum tutored Nigeria women’s national team squad to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The youngster was named in the Super Falcons starting XI for the opening game vs Canada, her only appearance following a red card which led to her suspension until the teams elimination in the last-16.
