Dembele Wins Fifa Men’s Player of the Year Award

Paris St-Germain and France forward Ousmane Dembele has been named the Fifa men’s player of the year, SportsRation reports.
The 28-year-old received the award in Qatar on Tuesday after a brilliant 2024–25 season with PSG. He also won the Ballon d’Or in September after helping his club lift four trophies.
Dembele, who joined PSG in 2023 after spells with Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund, recorded 51 goals and assists in 53 matches last season under coach Luis Enrique.
He played a key role as PSG won the Champions League for the first time. His performances helped him beat Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe to the award.
Dembele attended the ceremony ahead of PSG’s Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo on Wednesday.
The award covers performances between August 2024 and August 2025 and is voted for by national team coaches, captains, journalists and fans.
Although he struggled early in the season, Dembele’s form improved greatly after he was moved to play as a central striker. He scored 35 goals in total, with eight coming in the Champions League, including important goals against Liverpool and Arsenal.
His success confirms his place among the world’s top players. He now joins past winners such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
This season, Dembele has already scored three goals and provided three assists for PSG in all competitions.
At international level, he also helped France qualify for next summer’s World Cup. France, who have won the tournament twice, will face Senegal, Norway and a play-off winner in the group stage.
