DeRozan: We would have won if Lebron was on our side
LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers made light work of the Raptors but DeMar DeRozan believes it would have been a different story if the four-time NBA MVP was based in Toronto.
James led the way with 35 points, nine rebounds and six assists as reigning champions the Cavaliers swept the Raptors to reach the Eastern Conference Finals following Sunday’s 109-102 win.
It was the second successive year the Raptors had their season cut short by the Cavs, who needed six games to see off Toronto in the Conference Finals in 2016.
“If we had LeBron on our team, too, we would’ve won,” DeRozan said. “We could say that all day, time, everything, but we didn’t. It happened.
“We got swept. It’s gonna be one of them long summers for us.”
James – seeking his fourth NBA championship ring – did not score less than 30 points in four games against the Raptors this postseason, recording three 35-point hauls and a 39-point effort in game two.
