Dessers eyes Italy stay despite Rangers links
Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers is eyeing another season in Italy despite reported links to Scottish Premier League club Glasgow Rangers this summer.
Dessers, SportsRation scooped from Football Scotland, wants to stay in the Italian top-flight following interest from Serie A outfit Torino.
According to the report, the decision has been communicated to Glasgow Rangers already signifying the Nigeria international is clear he wants to stay in Italy.
Dessers played 29 times for current club Cremonese as they suffered relegation at the end of the 2022/2023 Italian Serie A season.
The 2021/2022 UEFA Conference League top-scorer scored seven goals in the just concluded season following his switch from Genk last summer.
With Cremonese relegated and preparing for life in the Serie B, Dessers is said to retain interest in another season in Italy and does have options in Serie A with Torino joining the race to sign him.
The striker has four-years on his current Cremonese contract but his profile and exploits during his time at Genk and on-loan to Feyernord a plus as he pursues a transfer to a top-flight club this summer.
28-year old Cyriel Dessers has fallen out of reckoning with the 2023 AFCON bound Nigeria National team.
The forward will eye a good move to boost his performances and possibly stake claim for a spot in the Super Eagles squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.
