Destiny Udogie scores in his first Tottenham Hotspur appearance
Super Eagles of Nigeria eligible left-back Destiny Udogie scored a goal in his first Tottenham Hotspur appearance in a 2-3 loss to West Ham United FC.
The game on Tuesday July 18 was Destiny Udogie’s first since a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur from Italian Serie A club Udinese back in 2022.
Born in Italy 20-years ago, the defender spent the 2022/2023 season on-loan at Udinese and has now returned for pre-season at his new club.
For his first appearance, new Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou sent Udogie on as a second half substitute in the pre-season friendly game at the Optus Stadium.
In the game, Englishman Danny Ings and Divin Mubama gave West Ham a two-goal lead at half-time.
Postecoglou effected multiple substitutions before play resumed for the second half and it yielded dividends when Giovani Lo Celso slammed a low shot into the Hammers’ net for 2-1.
Destiny Udogie completed the comeback with a header in the 71st minute but it was West Ham who had the win after Italian forward Gianluca Scamacca scored the winner.
Udogie is hoping to get the trust at Tottenham Hotspur this season and stay to fight for a place in the squad.
