Djokovic defeats Berettini to set up blockbuster clash with Nadal
Tsitsipas, Zverev to do battle in other semifinal
Novak Djokovic defeated Italy’s Matteo Berrettini 6-3 6-2 6-7 7-5 in their French Open quarterfinal clash to qualify for the semifinals, where he will take on French Open record holder Rafael Nadal who dispatched Argentina’s Diego Schwartzmann 6-3 4-6 6-4 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the competition he has won the most in the history of men’s tennis. Nadal and Djokovic will face off in what is a rematch of last year’s final for a place in this year’s final.
In the other quarterfinals, Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated world number two Daniil Medvedev in straight sets 6-3 7-6 7-5 to book his place in the semifinals, where he will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev, who defeated unseeded Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4 6-1 6-1 to secure his semifinal place.
