Done Deal: Fatai Osho takes over as Akwa United manager
Former Enyimba boss signs one-year deal with Promise Keepers
Former Enyimba manager Fatai Osho has been named as the new manager of NPFL21 champions Akwa United, signing a one-year deal with the Promise Keepers.
Osho takes over from Deji Ayeni as manager of Akwa United after Ayeni’s contract was not renewed ahead of next season. Osho’s most recent assignment was as assistant manager to Stanley Eguma at Rivers United, and the former Enyimba boss was in this position for two seasons before resigning after the NPFL23 Super Six.
Akwa United won the league in 2021 but failed to retain it in 2022 and did not qualify for the Super Six last season under Ayeni. The Promise Keepers will be looking to Osho to return them to the summit of Nigerian football, given the talent at his disposal.
Fatai Osho will earn in the region of #2m monthly and has the option of a contract extension at the end of his initial one-year contract.
