Eagles rating in Nigeria 1-1 draw vs Brazil: Aribo scores high; Iwobi & Onuachu on the low
Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo continues his dream start for the Super Eagles with another goal in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw against Brazil.
A goal from Madrid’s midfielder Casemiro cancelled out his beautiful strike. Joe Aribo wasn’t the only player who impressed not Singapore but he stood out while Alex Iwobi needs to up his game.
Here is how the Eagles faired against the Selacao on Sunday.
9/10 Francis Uzoho
Pulled off amazing saves to deny Brazil from scoring in the first half. Had no answer for Casemiro goal. Denied Tite’s boys from scoring more goals before he twisted his ankle and was taken off for Maduka Okoye.
Think he has secured his number one position.
7/10 Chidozie Awaziem
Filled in the right back position with ease. Defensively very solid, but could do better with his crosses.
8/10 William Troost-Ekong
William Troost-Ekong seemed to have no issues regardless of who partners him. The Udinese defender gave his usual best, fought for the balls on ground and on air.
William gave a performance worthy of a captain.
8/10 Semi Ajayi
The position not a problem for the West Brom player. Ajayi, slotted perfectly alongside Troost-Ekong at the heart of Eagles defence.
Made life difficult for Liverpool striker Firmino, he covered the pocket and made timely clearances and tackles.
7/10 Jamilu Collins
Thought Jamilu Collins held his own against Brazil wingers. Defensively solid but has lot of work to do with his runs and passes going forward.
8.5/10
Wilfred Ndidi just didn’t disappoint. The Leicester City man fought tirelessly against Brazil midfield duo of Arthur and Casemiro.
Mopped up the balls. Flew into a couple of tackles, had his usual interceptions and blocking.
10/10 Joe Aribo
Joe Aribo is not joking. He is the new Sheriff in town. The Rangers midfielder continued from where he left it off. Aribo who scored on his debut a game against Ukraine, added another against Brazil.
Aribo was joy to behold.
5/10 Alex Iwobi
Much was expected from Iwobi but the former Arsenal man wasn’t at his best. Gifted the against way a couple of time and just was running on the pitch without a clear understanding of what he is doing or what to do.
6/10 Samuel Chukwueze
Samu was not at his best but his effort defensively and runs helped Nigeria with the 1-1 result.
6.5/10 Simon Moses
Simon Moses assisted Joe Aribo goal. Was helpful defensively.
8.5/10 Victor Osimhen
Fine striker. Tireless runner. Led Eagles line like a veteran. Played as a lonely striker but had no problems dropping deeper and playing from the flank.
Substitute
7/10 Maduka Okoye
Had a good debut, kept a clean sheet.
