Ebenezer Akinsanmiro hailed after Inter Milan debut
Inter Milan’s dominance in the Italian Serie A continues to impress, with twenty-one victories and just one defeat this season, putting them eleven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
One key moment in the club’s latest win was the senior debut for former Remo Stars youngster, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.
After the game, former Napoli and Italy striker Oscar Damiani has showered praise on Inter Milan’s latest debutant.
Akinsanmiro, aged 19, recently joined the Nerazzurri from the Nigerian Premier Football League side Remo Stars. He marked his debut for Inter in their recent 4-0 league triumph over Lecce.
Damiani, aged 73, renowned for his playing days with several Italian clubs including Juventus, A.C. Milan, Lazio, Parma, and Genoa, and as the agent of former Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, played a significant role in facilitating Akinsanmiro’s move to the 36-time Italian champions.
He disclosed that he dissuaded numerous clubs, including Real Madrid, from pursuing the Nigerian youngster to ensure his signing for Inter Milan.
“A lot of teams wanted him, including Real Madrid. Inter are working well with the youngsters, they were good at developing them, so the guy chose Inter,” Damiani told FC Inter News.
He also commended the 2004-born attacking midfielder, who has showcased his talent in the Primavera 1 league for Inter this season, tallying five goals and two assists.
“He’s an interesting guy, very smart, very good, I knew him immediately at the Viareggio tournament. Inter were very quick at taking him; it was not easy, even for the status of non-EU. Congratulations to the Nerazzurri who have signed him and the boy who is working well. Then when you train with the senior team, you can only grow. He is a great prospect,” added the former New York Cosmos player.
