Ebenezer Akinsanmiro makes winning debut for Inter Milan
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, a promising young Nigerian midfielder, made his debut for Inter Milan during the 4-0 Italian Serie A match against Lecce on Sunday.
Introduced in the 76th minute, Akinsanmiro, formerly with Remo, joined the game with Inter already holding a commanding 4-0 lead. Despite his late arrival on the pitch, the 19-year-old showcased his talent by winning three duels and creating a scoring opportunity.
Akinsanmiro now joins the prestigious list of Nigerian players who have represented Inter Milan, including Nwankwo Kanu, Taribo West, Obafemi Martins, Nwankwo Obiora, Joel Obi, and Obinna Nsofor.
Inter Milan’s victory against Lecce further solidified their position in the Serie A standings. With the win, they now stand at 66 points and hold a nine-point lead over second-placed Juventus. Remarkably, this victory marks their impressive tenth consecutive win in the league, reaffirming their status as former Serie A champions.
The young midfielder’s journey to Inter Milan began with Remo Stars in 2020. He played a significant role in the team’s qualification from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) during the 2020/2021 season. Following his promising performances, Akinsanmiro caught the attention of Inter Milan, leading to his signing on January 31, 2023, on a four-year contract.
Although he was an unused substitute on the bench during Inter Milan’s ninth Coppa Italia title victory on May 24, 2023, Akinsanmiro’s winning debut signals a promising start to his journey with the prestigious Italian club.
