Eberechi Eze: No regrets choosing England over Nigeria
Eberechi Eze is confident his choice of representing the England National team ahead of his fatherland Nigeria is perfect and he has no reasons to regret.
The 24-year old was excellent in the final months of the English Premier League season enough to earn him a call-up for the June 2023 International window.
In the recently concluded English Premier League campaign, Eze scored 10 goals, and assisted four others to woo England boss Gareth Southgate into drawing international commitment from the Nigeria eligible.
In his first Interview after reporting to the England National team camp Eze said “We think that this is the best one [ choice of England over Nigeria ] .
” It is a big opportunity for me. It is the highest level of football. I look at it with no regret at all.
“It is the highest level of football. You want to test yourself against that, you want to be in that, and you can see from the quality of the team, where they are getting to, the confidence they are playing with, it is incredible.
So, being part of that is big.
“I received the call, and I felt it was the right decision to make, and I am very, very happy to be here,” he said, as quoted by ESPN.
If he makes his international debut against Malta at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium, Eberechi Eze will seal debate over his international future after previously considering representing the Nigeria Super Eagles.
Eze will join Bukayo Saka, another player of Nigerian roots at the Three Lions. The Arsenal man was in Nigeria last week before returning to the UK in preparation for the International engagement.
