Ejuke begs Eguavoen to give him more playing time
Super Eagles winger and one of the best one-on-one wingers in the world Chidera Ejuke has begged coach Austim Eguavoen to give him more playing time.
The CSKA Moscow winger who has been turning heads specially since joining the Russian club is yet to cement a place with the national team.
Chidera Ejuke has bee in out of the team under the management of past coach Gernot Rohr.
He was taken to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon but only started one game.
Chidera Ejuke played three games in total, was very effective against Egypt in Nigeria’s first group game.
But his performances in the next games, coming from the bench against Sudan and starting against Guinea-Bissau were not good enough to displaced the starting wingers.
And he is asking for more time to be able to show what he is capable of doing.
“For the first time, I went to a major tournament with Nigeria, this is a great experience – I would like to repeat it,” Ejuke told Sport 24.
“The coaching staff did not give me much time, in three matches, I was included in the starting lineup only once.
“I would like to play more, but not bad for the first time, and next time I will be better prepared for the national team.
“Qualifiers for the World Cup are ahead, where we will play with Ghana. I hope everything will turn out in our favor, and in 2022 we will go to Qatar. And in 2023, the African Cup of Nations will again be held,” he said.
