Ekerette Udom unveiled by Villarreal
As earlier announced by SportsRation, It is now official that La Liga giants Villarreal have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of Nigerian center-back Ekerette Udom, who has joined their reserve team from Rivers United.
The announcement was made on Villarreal’s official website, highlighting Udom’s arrival as a significant addition to Villarreal B. Standing at an impressive 1.98 meters tall, Udom is known for his commanding presence in aerial duels and his ability to play both as a centre-back and a holding midfielder.
“Villarreal CF have reached an agreement with Rivers United for the transfer of young defender Ekerette Udom, who joins Villarreal B’s ranks,” the statement read.
Udom’s solid performances in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with Rivers United caught the attention of European scouts, leading to this promising move to Spain. His experience in the CAF Confederation Cup and previous stints with Nigerian clubs like Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars have prepared him well for this new challenge.
At Villarreal B, Udom will compete in the Primera Federación – Group 2, aiming to hone his skills and secure a place in the senior squad. The reserve team, founded in 1999, plays its home matches at the Estadio de la Cerámica, a 23,008-seat stadium in Valencia.
