Ekong gets heartfelt love message from Nigerian government following succesful surgery
Following a successful surgery to address an injury sustained during the 2023 AFCON, Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has received a heartfelt message of love from the Nigerian government.
The Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, conveyed the message and support to Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong, following his recent surgery.
Troost-Ekong, who bravely played through pain to defend Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, underwent surgery earlier this week in Finland and is set to miss the remainder of the season.
In a statement released on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, Senator John Owan Enoh expressed genuine concern for Troost-Ekong’s well-being and extended wishes for a swift and successful recovery. He praised Troost-Ekong for his unwavering dedication to representing Nigeria on the international stage, despite encountering physical challenges.
“The dedication and resilience displayed by William Troost-Ekong are truly commendable. His willingness to persevere through pain and continue leading our national team exemplifies the spirit of a true leader and warrior. We offer our love and support to him during this recovery period and eagerly await his return to the field,” stated Senator John Owan Enoh.
Furthermore, the Minister acknowledged the efforts of Zaidu Sanusi, Ola Aina, and other players who sustained injuries during the African Cup of Nations tournament. Unfortunately, Sanusi faces an extended recovery period and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Senator John Owan Enoh recognized their sacrifices and wished them a speedy and complete recovery.
“Zaidu Sanusi and Ola Aina exhibited remarkable courage and dedication to the national team. Their commitment to representing Nigeria on the football field despite adversity is truly inspiring. We extend our heartfelt wishes to them for a rapid recovery, and want them to know that Nigerians will forever appreciate their sacrifices,” Senator John Owan Enoh affirmed.
The Minister underscored the importance of prioritizing the health and well-being of athletes and pledged ongoing support to ensure they receive optimal medical care and assistance.
