Ekong reacts to Mo Salah’s Saudi Arabia links
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has spoken about the rumours linking Liverpool star Mohamed Salah with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Troost-Ekong, who plays for Al-Kholood, mentioned that Salah has been strongly linked with a transfer to Al Hilal because of uncertainty around his contract with Liverpool.
Salah’s current deal runs out this summer, and he is in talks over a possible extension.
The Egyptian forward has been in great form for Liverpool this season, scoring 25 goals and providing 16 assists in 27 Premier League matches.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Troost-Ekong said: “There’s a lot of talk about Mo Salah moving to Al Hilal. That’s the club mentioned most often.
“I think he’s the most wanted player, partly because of his background and how much people here love him. It would be great to see that, and I’d welcome it.
“It would also mean another tough two matches for me, but I’d be happy to see big players coming to the Saudi league.”
Troost-Ekong has scored two goals and made one assist in 20 league games this season. However, he has missed Al-Kholood’s last two matches because of injury.
Now, Troost-Ekong is focused on getting back to full fitness for Nigeria’s important 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
