Emma Raducanu to make Tennis return next week

2021 US Open Champion Emma Raducanu will return to action at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells next week.

This will be her first match since the 2021 US Open champion experienced what the WTA called “fixated behaviour.” The incident occurred during her second-round loss to Karolina Muchova in Dubai last week, when a man was removed from the stands.

Raducanu had been in tears, hiding behind the umpire’s chair early in the match. The man involved was later given a restraining order and banned from future tournaments.

The 22-year-old, who chose not to press charges, will be offered up to five extra security guards following the stalking incident in Dubai.

Raducanu’s childhood coach, Roman Kelecic, said the man had followed her across four countries over three weeks while attending tournaments in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Doha.

Ranked world No 55, Raducanu has direct entry into the 128-player women’s singles draw at Indian Wells.
