Emmanuel Adebayor supports Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of AFCON final

Former Togo and Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor has thrown his support behind the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of their AFCON 2023 final against Ivory Coast on Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Adebayor, known for his stints with European clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur, expressed his allegiance to Nigeria despite his Togolese roots. He was a key figure in Togo’s national team and reached the quarter-finals of the AFCON 2013 tournament.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Post following Nigeria’s victory over South Africa, Adebayor revealed his intention to support Victor Osimhen.

Napoli’s talismanic striker will carry Nigeria’s hopes of defeating Ivory Coast in the final match to pick a fourth AFCON crown.

Adebayor hailed Osimhen’s performances in Nigeria’s run to the final and stressed how important his support will be to the forward’s hopes of delivering AFCON success for Nigeria.

“I’m here in the Super Eagles hotel to support the team and offer my support to Osimhen. He is doing well and is a pride to our continent. We all must rally round him to give him our support,” the former Kayserispor man said on Wednesday evening.

Adebayor, who has Nigerian heritage, has consistently advocated for Osimhen’s success and urged him to consider a move to the English Premier League to compete alongside top players.
