Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing an end to his long and successful time at the club.
The Egyptian forward made the announcement on Tuesday, 24 March, revealing that his nine-year stay at Anfield will come to a close. He joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and quickly became one of the club’s most important players.
During his time with the Reds, Salah helped the team win major trophies, including the Premier League title twice and the UEFA Champions League, among other honours.
The 33-year-old has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, placing him third on Liverpool’s all-time scorers list behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt. He has also won the Premier League Golden Boot four times.
Liverpool confirmed that Salah will leave after reaching an agreement with the club, allowing him to close what they described as a remarkable chapter in their history. The forward said he wanted to inform fans early out of respect and appreciation for their support over the years.
In a message shared on social media, Salah described Liverpool as more than just a club and thanked the supporters for standing by him throughout his journey. He ended his message with the words, “Because of you, I’ll never walk alone.”
His final appearance at Anfield is expected to come against Brentford FC on 24 May.
Salah’s next destination remains uncertain, although he has been linked with a possible move to the Saudi Pro League. Meanwhile, Liverpool will return to action on 4 April with an FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City.
