England begin World Cup qualifying with 6–1 Win

The England women’s national football team began their road to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in good spirits, defeating the Ukraine women’s national football team 6–1 on neutral ground in Turkey.

After a frustrating first half where Ukraine kept their defense behind the ball, England finally broke through early in the second half.

Alessia Russo opened the scoring three minutes after the restart, powering her way into the box before finishing. She doubled the lead shortly after, reacting quickly inside the area.
