Former Manchester City star Vincent Kompany led Burnley to a 1 nil away victory over Huddersfield Town on Matchday One of the 2022/2023 English Championship season.

Following their relegation from the English Premier League in May 2022 , Burnley appointed Vincent Kompany as manager on June 14 with a mandate to take the clarets back to the Premier League .

With 18 minutes into the first game of the English Championship season, Ian Maatsen curled home what turned out to be the winning goal for Burnley.
