Enyimba crashes out of CAF Confederation Cup despite draw
People's Elephant knocked out at quarterfinal stage
Enyimba were knocked out of the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup by Egyptian outfit Pyramids FC after they could only manage a 1-1 draw at the Enyimba International Stadium, ensuring the game finished 5-2 on aggregate in favour of the Egyptian side.
Having won the first leg 4-1 in Cairo, Pyramids FC took the lead through Ibrahim Adel in the 32nd minute of the tie before diminutive winger Anayo Iwuala scored a brilliant curler from the edge of the box to bring the scores level in the 40th minute as the game ended all square between both sides.
Enyimba have now crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 5-2 aggregate scoreline and will now be able to focus on their domestic football as they look to qualify for next season’s continental competition.
