Enyimba FC head coach Yemi Olanrewaju outlines ambitious plans for the Club
Enyimba FC’s newly appointed Head Coach, Yemi Olanrewaju, has shared his vision for the team following his unveiling by club Chairman Nwankwo Kanu.
Olanrewaju, who has signed a one-year contract with an option for extension, expressed his understanding of the high expectations associated with leading the “People’s Elephants” of Aba.
Speaking to reporters after his unveiling, Olanrewaju emphasised his familiarity with the club’s demanding environment, stating, “As the head coach of Enyimba, I know the pressure and what it means to lead the team. This is not my first year but my third year at the club. I understand what the fans want. Coaching Enyimba is a high-pressure job.”

The coach acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly the need to rebuild the squad after the departure of seven key players from last season. Despite these changes, Olanrewaju is confident about the team’s prospects. “We have good players and made some excellent signings. We are focused on integrating them quickly and efficiently. Nobody will listen to excuses; they only want results, and they want them as soon as possible.”
Olanrewaju’s objectives for the upcoming season include securing a top position in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and advancing to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup. “In the continental competition, our first goal is to reach the group stages. For the league, settling for second position is not acceptable. We are aiming for the top spot and will fight for it.”
