Enyimba FC linked with former Sporting Lagos Coach

Nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba are set to strengthen their coaching staff by adding former Sporting Lagos manager Paul Offor to their ranks before the start of the 2024/25 season.

Rumors swirled late in the week that Offor, who was let go by Sporting Lagos with less than 10 games remaining in the previous season, was poised to become the new head coach of the Aba Millionaires.

This speculation left the future of Yemi Olanrewaju, who took over as interim head coach following the departure of ex-Super Eagles coach Finidi George, uncertain.

However, UK-based journalist Olawale Quadry clarified the situation, stating, “The story of Sporting Lagos coach Paul Offor to Enyimba is untrue, as the club hasn’t appointed Paul as Head Coach.

Enyimba’s plan is for Paul to join them as an assistant. Enyimba will make an official statement very soon.”

Meanwhile, Offor has garnered interest from two other NPFL teams, including Kano Pillars. The 35-year-old was spotted at the Enyimba Stadium last Sunday, watching the People’s Elephants secure a 2-0 victory over Plateau United.

This win ensured Enyimba a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup, representing Nigeria in the prestigious competition.
