Enyimba FC poised for high-profile signings from NPFL clubs

Enyimba FC may have lost the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League title to Enugu Rangers but a CAF Confederation Cup spot makes the People’s Elephants an attractive destination for NPFL stars.
Per Tony Ademodi, Enyimba are on the brink of announcing a series of high-profile signings from other Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs.

SportsRation understands that the People’s Elephant have been in discussions with several NPFL players, many of whom were born and raised in Aba. This potential reunion echoes the club’s golden era when Enyimba clinched the CAF Champions League titles in 2003 and 2004 with a strong contingent of local talent.

Among the notable names spotted in Aba are Chinedu Sunday and Odinaka Francis from Lobi Stars, Kalu Nweke from Rangers, Richard Christopher and Emmanuel Ogbuagu from Sunshine Stars, and Chukwudi Esobe, Onyekachi Okafor, and Promise Anyanwu from Heartland FC.

Negotiations are reportedly in the advanced stages, and deals are expected to be finalized in the coming days. This move aims to bolster Enyimba’s squad and rekindle the success of the early 2000s, with a team rooted in local talent and camaraderie.

Already, the club has moved to secure the future of Coach Yemi Olanweraju who succeeded Finidi George as head coach towards the end of last season.
