Enyimba FC skipper reacts to CAF Champions League elimination
Enyimba FC skipper Ojo Olurunleke has reacted to the teams elimination from the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League on Sunday August 27.
The Peoples Elephants crashed out of the continent following a 3-4 aggregate loss to Libyan club Al Ahli Benghazi in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
On Sunday August 27 in Aba, Enyimba FC were held to a goalless draw by visiting Al Ahli Benghazi to sum a 3-4 aggregate score and so bow out of the continent.
Reacting to the elimination, skipper of the team and first choice goalkeeper Ojo Olurunleke expressed grief especially for the clubs teeming supporters.
” It’s painful to see the fans disappointed,” Ojo was quoted on Enyimba’s X handle (formerly known as Twitter).
” But we will bounce back and make them (fans) proud.”
The nine-time Nigeria Professional Football League Champions will now focus on achieving success in the domestic league which gets underway on September 8.
Enyimba FC are defending champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League and will start the season under a new management headed by former Super Eagles skipper Nwankwo Kanu .
