Enyimba head coach reveals what his players must do to get the fans happy
Enyimba FC were dethroned as Nigeria Premier Football League champions by Rangers FC on Sunday evening after what was a keenly contested title race.
With the title out of sight, the Peoples Elephants will face Plateau United FC in the final game of the season, carrying an entirely different agenda.
Enyimba International coach Yemi Olarenwaju has emphasised that the club must secure a spot in continental competitions at the end of the current season. Enyimba’s title hopes were dashed after they lost both three goals and three points due to a fan invasion during their match against Rangers in Enugu.
Following a 2-1 defeat to Sporting Lagos on Sunday, Enyimba has dropped to 3rd position on the table. To have a chance of playing in the CAF inter-club competition next season, they must win their final game of the season.
“We can’t afford to lose the game against Plateau United,” Olarenwaju stated. “A win will guarantee us a place in continental competitions next season.
” The players understand what is at stake. We can’t compromise; we must give everything to get the maximum points. Anything less, and we will have failed the club and the fans,” he added.
