Enyimba head coach Yemi Olarenwaju reveals target for new season
The head coach of Enyimba FC, Yemi Daniel Olarenwaju, has expressed his clear focus on delivering victories for the club’s passionate supporters.
Olarenwaju emphasized that Enyimba fans only expect one outcome: winning. In a recent video, Olarenwaju, who recently obtained his UEFA B license, stated:
“When you come to Enyimba, nothing except winning. The only language the fans want to hear is winning, winning, and victory – and this is what we want to give to our fans.”
Enyimba, known as the ‘People’s Elephant,’ struggled last season, failing to defend their Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title, which went to rivals Enugu Rangers. Olarenwaju, who previously served as an assistant to Finidi George, is determined to turn things around and restore the club’s glory.
“We want the season to start soon; we really can’t wait for the season to start,” Olarenwaju said. “Everybody has been doing their bit in training; the training has been intense. We want to win for the fans, we want to make all our fans all over the world happy by winning for them. Victory, victory – that’s what the club stands for, that’s what we desire to give them.”
Enyimba will get an early opportunity to set the tone for the new season when they face Enugu Rangers in the Coal City Cup pre-season tournament on August 1. The match promises to be a crucial test and a chance for Enyimba to make a statement ahead of the new campaign.
Meanwhile, Enyimba FC defeated Akwa Ibom based Jolly FC 2-0 in a pre-season friendly game on Monday July 30, 2024 at the Elephants Park in Aba.
