Enyimba International FC supporters urge club to recruit quality players for upcoming competitions
Supporters of Enyimba International FC are calling on the club management to recruit quality players to effectively compete in the CAF Confederation Cup and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Per NAN, on Monday, July 22, 2024, some supporters in Aba emphasised the importance of having skilled players to make a significant impact in these competitions.
Edwin Orjinta advised against the hasty recruitment of players and stressed the need to sign players capable of delivering results. He warned against recruiting players who excel only in training, bench warmers, and those prone to injuries, as the next season holds many challenges.
“Enyimba has been a household name in African continental competitions, and we need to maintain that status,” Orjinta said.
Ikechukwu Njoku, who praised the club for securing a continental slot, urged the management to seek players who can withstand the rigors of both continental and domestic football. He encouraged the team to aim for continental league success as they did in 2003 and 2004, and to perform well in the NPFL.
Augustine Ezenwata emphasized the importance of prioritizing players’ welfare, suggesting that this would help bring out the best in them.
Izuchukwu Odeme expressed concern about the delay in player recruitment for the coming season, noting that players need time to blend before the league kicks off. “I love Enyimba Football Club, and the delay in the recruitment of players is not the best considering the tasks ahead.
Though the club may be taking its time in recruiting players, they should bear in mind that the players need to understand each other to enhance teamwork,” Odeme said.
Enyimba finished in third place on the 2023/2024 NPFL table with 63 points, securing a continental ticket. The supporters believe that with the right recruitment strategy, the club can achieve great success in the upcoming season.
