Enyimba scrape away victory at Adamawa United
Wikki also defeat Jigawa Golden Stars in Bauchi
Enyimba secured a 2-1 victory over Adamawa United in their Matchday Six fixture at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. The win moved Enyimba into third place on the log with 12 points from 18.
The People’s Elephant wasted no time in setting the pace of the game, as they launched attack after attack on the Adamawa United goal. Their efforts finally paid dividends when winger Anayo Iwuala put the ball into the back of the net following a defensive mixup after 7 minutes. Enyimba continued to dominate, and doubled their lead on 32 minutes after a well worked freekick routine ended with left back, Imo Obot stabbing the ball into the back of the net from close range. Adamawa United came back strongly in the second half and pulled one back through Idris Abubakar from the penalty spot. Enyimba were able to hold off the Adamawa onslaught, and came away with their first away points of the season.
Wikki Tourist also defeated Jigawa Golden Stars 2-0 with goals from former Nigeria youth international, Nazifi Yahaya and forward, Promise Damala securing the points. Damala scored a superb goal for his second goal of the season in the fixture to secure all three points for Wikki. The result takes Wikki Tourist to 8 points for the season, while Jigawa Golden Stars have 7 points.
