Enyimba secure dramatic comeback to salvage point at home to FC Ifeanyi Ubah
People's Elephant remain 5 points adrift of top of NPFL
Enyimba FC were almost stunned at home by relegation-threatened FC Ifeanyi Ubah in their rescheduled NPFL Matchday 14 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba as they had to come from two goals down to play out a 2-2 draw on their own turf.
It was an Oriental derby, and as they say, the form book goes flying out of the window when it comes to derbies. FC Ifeanyi Ubah came out of the blocks quickly and opened the scoring through Saidu Adamu in the 29th minute of the encounter. After the break, it was the same man who doubled the lead for the Anambra Warriors in the 61st minute of the encounter as the visitors took a stranglehold on the game. The home side showed character and resilience, and pulled one back through midfielder Reuben Bala in the 78th minute before marauding left fullback, Imoh Obot scored in the first minute of added time to steal a valuable point and deny FC Ifeanyi Ubah their first win in 7 NPFL matches.
Enyimba have missed two glorious opportunities to climb to the top of the log and now remain in 5th place, 5 points behind League leaders, Kwara United. Enyimba have two games in hand and will need to maximise the games. FC Ifeanyi Ubah remain second bottom, 2 points from safety having failed to win in any of their last 7 NPFL matches.
