Erik ten Hag discusses future as Manchester United manager
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has addressed his future at the club following a recent post-season evaluation.
Despite widespread speculation that he might be fired, United’s co-owners, INEOS, have decided to retain the Dutch manager.
Ten Hag revealed that he is in talks about a new contract with the club. He acknowledged that United had been considering other candidates, including Thomas Tuchel, but he stated that he had no issues with the process.
“In England, they have different rules and laws. Here in Holland, this is ‘not done’, and it’s not even allowed. But it’s normal for them to reflect on the season,” Ten Hag said. He also mentioned that INEOS took their time as they are new to football.
Manchester United’s management flew to Ibiza, where Ten Hag was on holiday, to inform him of their decision to keep him as manager. “They disturbed my holiday; they suddenly stood at my doorstep,” Ten Hag shared in an interview with NOS Studio Voetbal.
This decision comes despite the club’s review of the season and discussions with multiple managerial candidates. Ten Hag’s continued leadership indicates confidence in his vision and approach for the team’s future.
