Eriksen puts Inter Milan on cusp of first Serie A title in 10 years

Defeat against Inter confirms Simy and Crotone relegation

Denmark international midfielder, Christian Eriksen came off the bench to score the opener for Inter Milan as they ran out 2-0 winners over bottom club Crotone to reach within touching distance of a first Serie A title since 2010.

With the game deadlocked, Inter manager Antonio Conte sent on former Spurs man Eriksen, and the midfielder was set up by Romelu Lukaku to fire home via a deflection in the 69th minute, only four minutes after his introduction. Moroccan wing back, Achraf Hakimi added a late second from a counter attack in stoppage time to seal the win and seal Crotone’s fate as the club were officially relegated from Serie A.

Inter Milan will be confirmed as Serie A champions if Atalanta fail to defeat Sassuolo on Sunday. If Atalanta do defeat Sassuolo, Inter need only one point to mathematically be crowned champions of Italy, ending Juventus’ 9 year reign.

Nigerian striker Simy Nwankwo who during the week stated that he was not desperate for a Super Eagles call-up after Nigeria’s coach Gernkt Rohr stated his reservations about Simy’s club side will surely be subject of transfer enquiries due to his wonderful goalscoring record this season after Crotone were officially relegated to Serie B.
