Erling Haaland Scores 150th City Goal as Brighton Hold Manchester City to Draw

Erling Haaland returned to the scoresheet with his 150th goal for Manchester City, but Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Brighton, leaving their Premier League title challenge under pressure.
City started the year poorly, with injuries and inconsistent performances allowing Arsenal to gain the upper hand at the top of the table. Brighton looked to exploit gaps in City’s defence early on, with Pascal Gross heading just wide and Ferdi Kadioglu denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Georginio Rutter also had a chance but was stopped by a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Abdukodir Khusanov.
City eventually took the lead in the 41st minute when Haaland converted a penalty after Jeremy Doku was fouled in the box by Diego Gomez. The goal marked both Haaland’s 150th for City and the 35,000th in Premier League history since 1992.
In the second half, Bernardo Silva came close to doubling the lead, hitting the post, but Brighton responded through Kaoru Mitoma, who fired a beautiful finish from the edge of the area. Despite further chances, including a missed opportunity for Gomez, neither side could find a winner.
The draw leaves Manchester City with their third consecutive stalemate, giving Arsenal the chance to extend their lead at the top if they beat Liverpool on Thursday. City’s title hopes now face serious questions as they look to regain momentum.
