Europa League: Antony, Martial Ruled Out Of Barcelona Clash
Manchester United trio of Antony, Anthony Martial, Scott Mctominay have been ruled out of the Europa League play-off against Barcelona at Nou Camp on Thursday.
The Red Devils have confirmed that the three players won’t feature in the encounter due to injuries.
Lisandro Martinez and on-loan Marcel Sabitzer are suspended for the first leg in Spain.
Casemiro is expected to return to the lineup after missing in Premier League action due to suspension.
Manchester United manager, Erik Ten Hag showered encomiums on his Barcelona counterpart, Xavi Hernandez.
“I think Barcelona and (us) as well (would) have preferred to play (this match) in the final,’ he told UEFA.
“We are looking forward (to it), it (takes) a lot of energy searching for that finish, and it will be a great game.
‘Hopefully, everyone is fit for Barcelona and for us. So we see a game (that will be played) at the highest level.
“As a player, I admire (Xavi). Barcelona, the way (they) played with him: he was such an important part of the team, you can see that the philosophy he now brings (to the team) is his Barcelona.”
Barcelona have enjoyed an impressive form in La Liga, conceding only seven goals all season and 11 points clear of Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.
The Blaugrana crashed out of the Champions League in the group stage.
