Everton fans appreciate their ‘new hero’ Alex Iwobi with a special banner
...Alex Iwobi Wan Kenobi is walking on water under Frank Lampard
Alex Iwobi has been described as Everton’s Iwobi-Wan Kenobi in relation to the famous character Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars.
Everton were at risk of relegation but as it stands with two games to the end of the season they are 2 points above 17th and 18th placed Burnley and Leeds United.
One player who has played a vital role in their survival push is Alex Iwobi, the Super Eagles attacker has played as a wing-back, full-back, attacking midfielder, central midfielder, and done everything asked by coach Frank Lampard.
So much that the former Arsenal player has transformed from the player that most Everton fans wanted out of the club to one they love enough to design a special banner for.
After their 2-1 away win against Leicester City a banner with the inscription ‘Iwobi-Wan Kenobi’ was sighted in the stand.
The banner was shared on Twitter by a certain fan ‘The Green Turf 2’ alongside the quote: ‘Alex Iwobi Wan Kenobi is walking on water under Frank Lampard.’
This surely was in appreciation of the Nigerian player for his sacrifices and commitment to the Everton course.
‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ character is a legendary Jedi Master, a nobleman and gifted in the ways of the Force. He trained Anakin Skywalker, served as a general in the Republic Army during the Clone Wars, and guided Luke Skywalker as a mentor.
He battled evil during the Clone Wars and was an all-around wonderful character.
No wonder Everton fans felt it deserving to add the prefix ‘Iw’ to Obi-Wan Kenobi in appreciation of one of their generals in their relegation battle.
Iwobi has been superb in the fight for Everton to avoid relegation.
