Everything Joe Aribo Said After Man of the Match Performance in Southampton’s Win Over Ipswich

Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo has vowed that Southampton will fight until the end of the season to secure their place in the English Premier League.

The Saints earned their first away win of the season with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Portman Road, thanks to an 87th-minute winner from Paul Onuachu.

Aribo and Onuachu made history as the first Super Eagles players to score in a Southampton win at St. Mary’s Stadium.

Aribo on Southampton’s Fight for Survival

Speaking after his Man of the Match display, the former Rangers star emphasised the importance of teamwork and determination to avoid relegation.

“For us, it’s an amazing feeling, really important to get that result. We knew how big the game was, and we had to fight. You saw us fighting, and it was just amazing to get that win,” Aribo told Southampton’s official website.

“I think it just shows the character of the boys, how together we are, how much we’re willing to fight for each other. You know, we can’t do this individually; we’ve got to fight together, and that’s what we need to do in the upcoming games.”

Praise for Paul Onuachu’s Late Winner

Aribo also expressed his joy over Onuachu’s decisive goal, admitting he was completely exhausted at that moment.

“The late winner from Onuachu was a massive relief. I was playing in a deeper role, and as I ran over to celebrate, I had nothing left in my legs—I was just jogging with my hands out. It was an amazing feeling.”

Ready to Play Anywhere for Southampton’s Survival

The 28-year-old midfielder reiterated his commitment to playing in any position if it helps the team stay up.

“I’m willing to do anything to get us over the line. We have to fight together. If I have to play in a position I’m not familiar with, then I will do it to the best of my ability.”

What’s Next for Southampton?

Southampton will now turn their focus to the FA Cup fourth-round clash against Burnley on Saturday before facing Bournemouth in the league.
