Eze Scores First England Goal in Victory Over Latvia
Eberechi Eze marked a special moment in his England career by scoring his first international goal in the Three Lions’ 3-0 win over Latvia at Wembley.
After being left on the bench in the 2-0 victory against Albania, the Crystal Palace star took just 15 minutes on the pitch to make an impact. Cutting in from the left with his trademark dribbling, Eze fired a shot that took a deflection before hitting the back of the net.
His goal made him only the second Crystal Palace player in history to score for England, joining Peter Taylor, who netted twice back in 1976.
England Secure Comfortable Win
England, playing their second match under new manager Thomas Tuchel, dominated possession against Latvia but had to wait until the 38th minute to break the deadlock. Reece James opened the scoring with a stunning free-kick, before Harry Kane doubled the lead in the second half with a close-range finish from Declan Rice’s cross.
Eze then sealed the win late on, capping off a confident performance with his first goal for his country.
Tuchel made four changes from the Albania game, with England once again controlling the match from start to finish. Despite some early frustration and a mix-up involving goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, the Three Lions eventually found their rhythm and secured a comfortable win.
Eze’s performance will certainly give Tuchel more to think about as England continue their World Cup qualification campaign.
