Fabrizio Romano drops latest Victor Osimhen transfer updates
Fabrizio Romano has dropped latest updates regarding Victor Osimhen and links to a transfer away from Napoli in the current summer transfer market.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen remains a prominent figure in the ongoing transfer saga, with recent developments indicating a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could be on the horizon.
Despite long-standing links with Chelsea, recent statements from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggest that PSG is currently a more probable destination for the Nigerian forward. Romano clarified that the situation surrounding Osimhen is closely tied to PSG’s imminent acquisition of Joao Neves from Benfica.
Romano noted, “I’m not aware of anything fresh between Chelsea and Osimhen,” addressing the persistent rumors linking the striker with a move to Stamford Bridge. He elaborated, “The situation of Victor Osimhen, just to clarify two things. The first is that PSG are closing in on a deal for Joao Neves, so he will be a PSG player. It’s just a matter of time, it will be days to close the deal. It’s imminent.”
Romano further detailed that PSG and Benfica are finalizing the terms of Neves’ transfer, which is expected to involve a fee of €70 million plus one player, likely Renato Sanches. This deal is anticipated to be concluded shortly, with Neves reportedly enthusiastic about joining PSG under the guidance of the esteemed coach Luis Enrique.
Regarding Osimhen, Romano provided insight into the current status of negotiations. “PSG and Victor Osimhen? First of all, Osimhen wants to leave Napoli, and Napoli’s intention remains to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea,” he said. However, he added that PSG has yet to agree to Napoli’s initial terms, which included requests for Kang In-lee and the possibility of activating Osimhen’s release clause. “PSG said no to these conditions,” Romano revealed.
Despite the current standstill, Romano hinted that if Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen were to drop, PSG could reconsider their stance. “The player would love to go there and has given his green light,” the Italian Journalist confirmed, suggesting that PSG remains a viable option for the striker, should the financial terms become more favorable.
