Fabrizio Romano quashes Chukwuemeka to Galatasaray speculation
Fabrizio Romano has quashed rumours suggesting that Chelsea’s England youth international of Nigerian descent, Carney Chukwuemeka, is set for a loan move to Galatasaray before the close of the Turkish transfer window.
Romano, addressing the media speculation, revealed that Chelsea are only interested in an outright sale for the 20-year-old midfielder, not a loan deal. “Chelsea always considered Carney only available on a permanent deal, not on loan,” Romano stated in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside. He also added that there had been no concrete talks between Chelsea and Galatasaray regarding Chukwuemeka.
Galatasaray, currently searching for a central midfielder, have also shown interest in Nigeria international Raphael Onyedika. However, no agreement has been reached with his club, Club Brugge.
Chukwuemeka’s lack of game time under Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has fueled speculation about his future. With competition from midfielders such as Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Chukwuemeka has found himself on the sidelines for Chelsea’s first three Premier League matches of the season.
Chukwuemeka, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in August 2022, remains a potential transfer target for Galatasaray, but any deal would likely involve convincing Chelsea to alter their stance on the player’s availability.
