Fabrizio Romano reveals Flying Eagles defender being scouted by Manchester City, Villarreal
Teenage sensation certain to earn big move after impressive showing in Argentina
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has pinpointed Flying Eagles centre-back Benjamin Fredrick as being on the radar of Europe’s top sides, including Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Villarreal.
Fredrick has been an immense player for the Flying Eagles since the U-20 AFCON in Egypt, where he helped the side win a bronze medal in the competition. The 18-year-old was on the radar of RB Leipzig, FC Midtjylland and Anderlecht but could not move at the time as he was still only 17.
The young defender, who was on loan at relegated Nasarawa United, is attached to Simoiben Academy owned by Super Eagles and FC Nantes winger Moses Simon. He has been a key player for the Flying Eagles at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
Fredrick has played in three of Nigeria’s four matches in Argentina, helping the Flying Eagles to wins against Dominican Republic, Italy and hosts Argentina. The youngster missed only one match as he was rested against Brazil, and the team lost that game.
Fredrick will look to continue to impress for Nigeria in the tournament as it could earn him a move to one of Europe’s top sides, according to Romano, who revealed that while several teams are scouting him in Argentina, scouts from Manchester City, Bayern and Villarreal are closely monitoring him.

Flying Eagles goalkeeper Chijioke Aniagboso has already earned a move to Europe with Ukrainian side FC Polissya, and the likes of Fredrick and the impressive Daniel Daga will be looking to secure their own moves to Europe and continue their development.
