Fabrizio Romano says Iheanacho’s coach is set to become new Chelsea manager
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that the coach who managed Nigerian stars, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho at Leceister City is close to becoming Chelsea manager.
Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is set to become the new manager of Chelsea after catching the eye of Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
Maresca has been praised for his tactical skills and effective management of players like Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi. He led Leicester City back to the English Premier League just a year after they were relegated, winning the EFL Championship in the just concluded campaign.
Due to his impressive performance, Chelsea’s management is keen to bring Maresca on board. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Maresca is expected to sign either a two-year contract with an option for an additional season or a three-year contract.
Romano tweeted, “Understand Chelsea and Enzo Maresca are set to agree on contract terms. Two year deal with option for further season or three year deal, this is final detail being clarified. Maresca already said yes to Chelsea project, up to the clubs now to agree on compensation.”
The 44-year-old Italian has agreed to join Chelsea, and now the two clubs must agree on the compensation. Maresca was chosen over other strong candidates like Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi, who were also considered for the job.
Maresca’s recent successes and potential for future achievements have made him the top choice for Chelsea’s new manager following the mutual seperation with Argentine coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
